WHAT ARE INTERVAL STARTS?

The interval start format introduced at Südasuve Challenge – Võsu in 2018 won the 2019 Estonian Running Innovation Award.

Its goal is to reduce bottlenecks and crowding at the start. Everyone can run at their own pace right from the beginning, regardless of ability. Elite runners and recreational joggers may start side by side without interfering with each other.

Please note: those running for fun are kindly asked not to start in the early waves.

Timing begins when crossing the start mats. The format also allows smoother coexistence with non-participants, such as parents with strollers or walking couples.
