What are interval starts? Interval starts, which won the Running Innovation Award at the 2019 National Running Conference, were introduced in 2018 as part of the Midsummer Challenge – Võsu. Interval starts aim to reduce bottlenecks and queuing in the start corridor. Essentially, this means all participants have the opportunity to develop the speed they are comfortable with right from the beginning. It is possible for both an elite class runner and a regular runner/jogger to be together on the start line. Runners will not be in each other's way. However, we ask that those who take it easy do not start in the first group.
The timing is triggered at the start by crossing the timing mats, and the interval starts allow the event to be carried out without disturbing too much the people walking and strolling in the urban space. The single file of the participants will also be able to easily pass parents walking with prams or couples holding hands.
